I'm Hosting!

The next drawing challenge for this coming weekend June 21-23!

and since it's the Solstice I thought that would be a good theme to work around.

In the Northern hemisphere we are coming up on the longest day of the year...what sorts of traditions

or mind set do you anticipate with the changing season- the mid way point of the year. 

Plans for summer leisure and expansion or gathering and preparing for winter depending on which hemisphere your in...

These markers in the calender ( solstices and equinoxes) have always given me pause to reflect on where I'm going what I've done and what I'd like to do...or better yet who I'd like to be :)

One sunny day in

the midst of a rainy week

Remember that deer I mentioned in my last post...

Well she came back today and I thought it was funny to see

her all alone. Usually they travel in groups or it's a boy- which she isn't.

Or maybe she was pregnant but really does she look pregnant?

Well apparently she was (past tense) and after spending the morning eating away at

our wild black berry bushes this little one appeared right outside my window!

Of course I practically fell over myself trying to take a picture...

Mama saw immediately and stomped her foot and off it went

like a flash!

I had to do some fancy foot work with photo shop to get the pictures to look half way decent

Busy making new things for the shop this week- it's been so slow for me

and easy to let myself fall into the "wrong kind of thinking".

So instead I'm using it as time to make fun new things I wouldn't have

made otherwise. Above; Bear with glasses zipper pouch for example ;)

We had a big deer at the bottom of our yard today, I can never get good pictures 

of them so I set up my own scenario.

DC Mood Board

Arianne has chosen the theme for us this week... a Mood board.

Which I took to mean a collection of things that would describe

my mood...I assume one could go on making a collection of moods

and really how wonderful that would be :)

For today I chose a straw person my son made, an embroidery on leather

from a piece of my brothers childhood cowboy vest I call constellation house.

A peony from my yard, the fabric eye and paper circle from friends, a stick I've been holding

onto for ever and a small watercolor I did this week.
