Whats cooking...starting to bring home the spoils from my time
in ceramics- and it's a mixed bag of feelings- while I feel I'm
improving- it's still a struggle working with the glazes and getting
my edges less wonky and making things consistent- but on the
bright side I know I can make things better so the urge to try and try again
is ever present. In the mean time I'm going to sort through things and hit
a holiday craft fair to maybe unload some pieces so I'm not stacking dishes
everywhere around my house ;)

Drawing Challenge Folds

The first thing I thought of when Carole posted the new theme
for the drawing challenge "folds" was the first day of Spring
a few years ago- I had hung out sheets and it was such a warm bright day.
The kids spent the day in rubber boots and helped me hang up the sheets and we
all played wrapping ourselves in the folds- it smelled so good!

These are photos I took that day- and they make me feel very nostalgic.

Please visit Carole's blog for more versions of fold

November 2014

November is traditionally when I start using the black and white filter
on my camera...and it generally gets used more in the late Fall/Winter
than over the Summer- I think I'm more inclined to embrace the dramatic light
and interior views I'm experiencing when it drops in temperature outside.
- and drama always lends itself to black and white in my mind.
Even when it's ordinary, black and white makes it dramatic ;)

Having some time this week for ceramics- glazing -
and discarding wayward pieces in my yard...

I thought I would see how long these last in this tree :)

My Daughter and I went for a walk at dusk yesterday and were
excited to discover all different kinds of berries and seeds ripe on vines and
shrubs- so we decided to pick a bunch and try to identify them all
with the exception of that top one.
We also discovered that one of the branches of yellow/white berries we
had gathered were actually poison ivy berries! after realizing our mistake we
quickly threw them out and proceeded to wash our hands several times with soap
and water...fingers crossed neither one of us seems to have rotten a rash from it (yet)

Having a particularly vivid blue day- between the sky and clay
and a new blue sweater ;)
